Bush, with his throwing his weight around, refusal to join in international efforts, and starting an unjustified war, has pretty much shot the reputation of America as the “leader and inspiration of the free world”.
McCain won’t restore it. Obama will. How much is that worth to us in the modern interdependent world?

1The best way to restore things with the rest of the world is to just ask what they want and then tell them to kiss our BUTTS.
If you really want the rest of the world to respect us get things like Jerry Springer, Maury, Dr. Phil , Oprah and The View off TV. All those shows do is show the rest of the world what we are becoming. A LIBERAL DO ANYTHING YOU WANT NATION.

2The question of America’s reputation is as bias as the liberal vs conservative agendas. You claim McCain won’t restore it but yet I heard Obama just speak to the Iraeli lobby and thus won’t change a thing – hand them 30 billion or so in foreign aid and stand by them still (which I don’t oppose but its actually no change in policy).
Liberals suggest we win a “reputation” by giving money out. I remember every time Clinton had a bad day in the media he rolled out the leader of a foreign nation for a white house photo op; but what was not reported was that hand out that went with the photo op in foreign aid. If having a “good” reputation means pleasing the leftist media and dictators of the world – forget it – its not worth a dime.

there was never love for the Americas only tolerance due to the lack of love . History shall always speak for itself and still does concerning the northern continent – remember slavery and the Indians incident then you shall draw a balance conclusion. how sad history is for the American the future shall change for the good but not for saving nor restoring a reputation of one damaging outcome of the American but for the people the good of man and the good for man kind I believe in goodness not reputations.

handing over America to the UN or the third world tyrants won’t make us popular. it will make us the butt of their jokes.
i lived through that one with Carter. i don’t want to repeat the past.
Obama can’t say anything to Iran and our enemies that will make them love us…at least with a strong defence, they will respect us and think twice before attacking.

5I don’t know how to put a measureable amount on what it is worth but besides all the political reasons it is very important. I want to be one with people around the world. I want to travel. I want to feel welcomed by others & be free to go where I want to go. We don’t need more discrimination in the world it is about time we are more highly evolved. I know Obama will straighten out all that the cons. have messed up.The world is already anticipating the goodness that Obama’s election will bring along with the intelligent, decent people who are voting for him.

Obama even said kids with asthma should be given breathalyzers. I heard him say it. Funny how you liberals complain about Bush prosecuting terrorists yet your hero wants to treat sick American kids like criminals.

7i think its relatively important. not the number 1 thing on my mind currently since the war, economy, and health care factor are more important at this point.
we, as citizens of not only the usa, but the world, have a job to keep things on an even keel with the rest of the world. we are not the only people in the world. it does not revolve around us. we are not in a horrible economical or social situation in relation to the rest of the world.

9I can tell you what it is not worth – our dignity and national security. Both will be forfeit if we elect someone who is completely ignorant and naive about foreign policy. This is why I cannot, in good conscience, vote for Obama.
That and I think McCain has a better shot of restoring American’s standing in the world than Bush did, and that is good enough for me.

10Bush was never respected…some of the other presidents we have had were…Reagan, JFK etc.
You have to earn respect and even when the French stated “we were all americans”, and W had the world by the balls, he couldn’t or chose not to negotiate… and I think it is that inflexibility that has cost the US its reputation. And with that loss of reputation, there is a loss of buisness opportunities in foreign markets for US corps etc so it does hurt us…

11That is such crap! France and the rest of Europe would have contempt for us no matter what, out of envy. The middle east would hate us because of islam. And North Korea hates everyone. Japan gets along great with us, and so does Taiwan, which pisses off China. China needs to get over that. Anyway, you’re barking up the wrong tree. You can’t please every nation on earth, and you shouldn’t try to, because some of them are pleased with tyranny (I’m looking at you Iran and N. Korea). Yours is a fool’s errand in the first place.
