   India, is quite frankly, utterly confused.
   Because it’s a post-colonial country. And that does make a difference.
   There was the ancient India, then the India colonized by Britishers and now – a India neither here nor there.
   The youth as such, never saw the ancient India. They never really felt the effects of post-colonialism. All they see is the after-effects of it. Which is generally a more – um – ‘westernised’ and globally exposed outlook
   The current politicians in charge are torn between ‘global’ India and ‘ancient-wise-traditional-India’.
   They don’t realise that it is, totally absurdity to wish for India to go back in time.
   Only the forward option is left.
   But that takes time.
   And we’re a democracy so – India has to listen – to every single person who thinks they know what is right – which takes more time.
   Also the highly educated current youth – as such – is disdainful of politics. They’re not going to work ‘for the good of the country’ for what seems like – pocket money – money without corruption. And it’s going to be a long battle because corruption is literally – normal and acceptable here now. Also – the current politicians? Jeez. Some are so illiterate and brainless it’s embarrassing when they open their mouths. And God! What melodrama in politics. The current generation is irritated and disgusted by it.
   More money and power can be earned in other jobs, why would they get into politics or governmental jobs and struggle for the rest of their lives?
   Would you?
   I wouldn’t. I haven’t the patience.
   People leave, because it’s easier elsewhere. The pay packets are better and there is more work ethics and people actually come on time. Here’s – it’s just not the same. Unless you’re insanely patriotic, most people will go in search for better high paying jobs.
   Not to mention the high levels of illiteracy. Without education – nothing is possible nowadays.
   Join the Times Of India – Learn to teach initiative. Or a NGO. People want to learn – there’s just not enough people who want to teach for free. It’s tough.
   Also don’t forget the vastness of India.
   It’s huge. And it has different cultures and religions. And there can be no discrimination. Any useless discrimination is childish and merely gutter-level and not worthy of discussing.
   So – India has to be careful and walk careful, lest they hurt anyone’s sentiments. And they can’t and shouldn’t. Because then this wouldn’t be India.
   I like India as it is now, I see the changes, I like the fact that we’re not all clones, that it’s a country so alive – I think it’s positively lovely.
   It seems slow – but it is developing and one day it will be.
   Give it some credit, a post-colonial vast country with such a lot of varied cultures cannot become ‘developed’ over night. It has been 61 years since Independence – although it seems a lot – in reality when you put things into perspective – that’s nothing!
   Give it time. Hopefully some old and brainless people will go retire from politics. That would make things go quicker.
   If you’re asking statical answers, I’m afraid I can’t quite give that. Maybe Googling will help.

   India is growing fast, but still has a GDP per capita well below western standards.
   It likely will catch up someday, in the meantime, the well educated can earn more money in developed nations, where salaries are higher.

   Because India was stripped of all its wealth when the british took over. So right now india is still trying to cope with corruption… and they spend too much money westernizing the culture -_-
